Der Geologe Milne und der Mediziner Burton, beide Professoren an der Kaiserlichen Universit\u00e4t Tokyo, machten diese Beobachtung vor genau 120 Jahren &#8212; w\u00e4hrend des N\u014dbi-Erdbebens \u6fc3\u5c3e\u5730\u9707, das Mitteljapan zwischen Nagoya und Gifu am 28.10.1891 ersch\u00fctterte. Japan lernte viel aus diesem Ereignis; u.a. wurde der Aufbau der modernen Seismologie forciert.
